What it does
LimeWyre is for the note you saved weeks ago and can’t find. You drop text or links into it from the app, the share sheet or a home-screen widget. Later you ask a question in plain language. The AI answers from your own notes and from notes in groups you belong to, and lists the notes it used. Groups are shared note spaces, and creating one needs the paid Pro plan.
What I worked on
LimeWyre was an in-house Mobil80 product. From February 2026 I was effectively the only Flutter developer on it. The backend, including the AI search, was a separate project. My work was the app.
- Most of the store releases, from the first Google Play release in December 2025 to 2.1.16 in April 2026.
- A RevenueCat paywall that opens when someone without Pro tries to create a group.
- Moving share-sheet handling to the share_handler package.
- Guest access, added in March 2026, so people can add notes and ask questions without logging in. Logging out drops you back into a guest session instead of a login screen.
- Suggested questions, built on the device from your own recent and older notes.
- Home-screen widgets for a quick note and a quick question.
How the widgets work
Each platform needed a different approach. On Android, the widgets open small floating dialogs written in Kotlin. You type a note or a question and the dialog talks to the backend directly, without starting Flutter. On iOS, the Swift widgets deep-link into the app. If the app was closed, the Swift side saves a pending flag and Flutter opens the right screen after checking who is signed in.
The widget code runs outside Flutter, so it needs to be told who is signed in. After every sign-in, logout or guest start, the app passes the current account and its groups to the Kotlin and Swift side. A question from the Android dialog then covers the same notes as one asked in the app.
Where it is now
2.1.16, the release with the widgets, was the last one. The app has since been discontinued. It’s gone from Google Play and the service behind it is offline. The App Store listing was still up in October 2026.
